There will still be fistulas for many decades, long after I've gone. These fistula victims cannot afford to pay for their surgeries. We need money set aside for them so that no woman will ever be turned away.

Participating in the Love-a-Sister program is a way to ensure that women suffering from obstetric fistula will always be able to obtain free, safe surgery to repair their devastating injuries. A $450 contribution is enough to pay for surgery and postoperative care for one of the thousands of women who will continue to seek care at the Fistula Hospital.

While $450 isn't enough for one night's stay in most hospitals in the United States, it is enough for Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital to provide one woman with restorative surgery, postoperative care, and classes in health and basic literacy while she recuperates. It's even enough to provide her with a new dress and bus fare home.
